With over two decades of training and competing in bodybuilding at the national and international levels in both his native France, elsewhere in Europe and also most recently in the U.S., international bodybuilding champion Fabrice Rinaldi has developed an intelligent plan for training and dieting that produces results in muscle gains that balance size with aesthetics. Here he describes both his own first-hand experience with his training methods in his book, 1 Rep Mass, and how he has helped others achieve impressive new muscular size and definition.
Suite101: Can you describe the most important points of training that you recommend in your book 1 Rep Mass?
Fabrice Rinaldi: 1 Rep Mass is a very specific and special program. You perform one rep, then rack the bar or rest 6 seconds and perform another repetition - but with a very specific number of reps for the first and following sets, also with a specific type of contraction depending on what part of the program you are following. The nutritional plan is also designed to give you the most muscle building possible with all the nutrients your body needs to grow in real hard muscles!
Suite101: Have you used these methods of training and diet in your own most recent contest preparation?
Fabrice Rinaldi: Yes, I used the training system the first weeks of my in-season program to increase my strength, muscular density and muscle mass.
Suite101: How are these European training methods different from what most American bodybuilders are still using?
Fabrice Rinaldi: This method is call European because I'm European myself, although I've never seen anyone using it in Europe, and my book is only available in English. But, on the other hand, I heard about German bodybuilders using it and they love it. I remember I was at the Metroflex gym in Dallas, talking with Brian Dobson the owner and I told him "Hey I wrote a book you know about!" and he said back "I already know, Fabrice! A huge German bodybuilder came here one day and showed me your book, telling me it was his bible and the best book/program he has ever read!" This really impressed me that my type of training could deliver high quality results to other dedicated bodybuilders and I was so happy for this guy!
Suite101: What are your other current or future training related projects in book or other media?
Fabrice Rinaldi: I have a different project in French on the web with home training videos and PDF for a very specific program to gain muscle and lose fat training at home with very few equipments (dumbbells, a barbell and a gym ball, nothing else). I'm going to write a new book on an entire muscle building program for a year but also a fitness book to lose a maximum of fat and get ripped in just few weeks for everybody... those products will be in French but also English, Spanish and Dutch.
